Are conservatives good for America?

im not talking about the act of conservation, which o do support, since we do conserve our constitutional rights, but what i am trying to ask is, the tea party, the fox news fanbase (orielly,beck and the others). are they good for america or do they keep us from progressing as a nation and keep us from improving our quality of life with their close mindedness?
