The priest at my local parish said "God bless you!" and I said "Oh! Thanks! You too!" Is that odd?

I'm a protestant, but I'm considering converting to Catholicism. I went to talk to the priest and the local church and the above story took place. How should I react when a priest says that? I was a little taken aback by it.
