What great things did the late Rabbi Menachem Schneerson do?

I heard he was considered the Messiah. I've looked on all political and religious sites and can not find out what accomplishments he made. Were there any? (1902 -1994), a/k/a Lubavitcher Rebbe or just the Rebbe
