Hyperglycemia and thirst?

To an extent, yes. You could also include that sugars (such as glucose) affect the water potential in cells in the body, therefore affecting homeostasis. As hyperglycemia means that there is too much sugar circulating in the blood and insulin cannot be-rid the body of it, Cindy feels the need to drink more to keep the water potential in her body balanced, which in turn makes her urinate more.
