2 week old baby, projectile vomit?

my daughter has been completely on milk (pumped and bottled) since birth. Tonite i tried a bottle of formula to see if she would sleep better, after eating the bottle she began to shoot vomit out like crazy. She then began acting hungry after about fifteen minutes so I gave her about 2 ounces of milk she again vomited it up. She is still acting hungry and will only suck on the binky a little while. My question is why did she vomit was the formula too strong for her stomach or what and what do I do about her current hunger. I have been trying to get her to go to sleep in hopes that she will hold off at least a hour before feeding again so her stomach will settle is that right to do?
